Letters to my readers

July 13, 2020

Dear readers,

I’m not on Facebook. I had my reservations since the beginning, not because I didn’t understand the app, but because I understood all too well what it was all about since its conception. I’m not against technology, on the opposite, I embrace it when it comes to new inventions and new concepts; I always will. However, I’m against greed, invasion of privacy, disinformation, and dishonesty. And the bigger the technology company, the bigger the responsibility in the clarity of our mutual understanding. Respect is not imposed; respect is earned. If you go to my blog, you’ll see what I’m talking about in the post Signiling, and in the one titled The Ones Who Walk Away.

Today, according to USA Today more than 135,000 Americans have died of coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, and the total of cases surpasses 3.3 million Americans. That’s 1% of the population, one too many. And the numbers keep going up. Go to Johns Hopkins University, Coronavirus Resource Center, that is https://coronavirus.jhu.edu, to get the latest about this virus.

This is serious, please take precautions to stay safe and to spare the lives of the ones around you, because you might not have symptoms but you could be a carrier. As uncomfortable as it may seem to use plastic face shields, masks, and gloves, scientific studies show they are helping to control the spread of the disease. I personally recommend you to wash all the clothes you wear outside around people as soon as you arrive home, take a shower, and wash your hair. Simple soap and shampoo will do. Don’t take those germs into your house.

As long as we don’t have a vaccine, we are not out of the hole yet.

If you must go out, take care of yourself and of those around you. Please, keep your distance, because this pandemic is mostly spread by the air we breathe—it’s airborne. It can even get through your eyes.

I wish you and your family a safe and healthy life. Hang in there!
