Letters to my readers
September 8, 2024
Dear readers,
In July, I added two new posts, the first one is titled About Writing III, where I tell you how storytelling affects me personally and as a writer. The second one is called Actresses 101, and it’s about the effect that some actresses have had on me over the years, focusing on their value as artists and as women.
I’ve been writing on this blog since 2015. My initial intent was to create a site that would inform you of who I was and the things I wrote about. However, the disinformation and misinformation were at all time high that year, so I thought that it was my responsibility to speak my mind about it, doing my part in the clarification of things, such as the intrinsic value of women in any society.
Over the years, the trash talking has only increased in volume and intensity, and the mass media has done nothing but following the shining objects thrown at them by the far-right and their authoritarian donors.
What I’m asking you to do is to pay attention to what is going on and think, because, by doing so, you’re going to be better prepared to protect this country from an authoritarian takeover. This is not only about protecting this republic by fostering democracy, it’s also about looking for ways that will help this country to reach its higher level of development, intellectually, economically, and as a beacon for humankind.
If we keep listening to republican asinine candidates—who only spew inane remarks and insults in their attempt to debase the entire country, especially women—we are going to be too distracted to participate in the construction of a new and better way to live, one that can actually provide the environment for a joyful interaction between people.
I trust women to do the job, because we find our identity in our relationship with others. We have the ability to socialize, to be open for dialogue, and to be compassionate, due to our natural, self-contained empathy that makes of this world something more livable and worth saving. There are always exceptions to any rule, but don’t allow some trees to get in the way of the real, full view of the forest.
Women are strong, imaginative, opinionated, generous, loving, and can juggle many things at once. None of which is really registering in extreme-right republicans’ ears. These miserable men are bitter and in a deep mental black hole because they have no idea what love really is, they have no way to know, and it’s already too late for them. These deceitful men should remember what George Bernard Shaw said, “The liar’s punishment is, not in the least that he is not believed, but that he cannot believe anyone else.”
I wish for you, the good-hearted, a safe and sound life, relishing on what we have been able to build so far, and all that we will build together.
